Health and social care built this problem. Measurable workforce health will fix it.

The workforce crisis in social care isn’t a mystery. It’s measurable. And it’s preventable.

Why I started this

I’ve spent 25 years working in health across the primary care system, including public health and preventing long-term conditions before they take hold.

Wherever I looked, the workplace kept showing up as the missed opportunity. People spend most of their waking life there. It’s where prevention could actually happen, if anyone bothered to measure it properly.

Social care is where this matters most, and gets addressed least.

A workforce under pressure doesn’t just affect the people delivering care. It affects the people receiving it. It affects beds that can’t be freed up because there isn’t a well-resourced enough workforce to support people back into the community. It affects capacity and finances right across the system.

I built In-House Health because nobody was treating workforce health and wellbeing as the lever it actually is, for employees, for the people in their care, and for the pressure on care providers and the wider system.

That’s what In-House Health does

The In-House Health Difference

Clinical expertise, not corporate wellbeing theory. I built this from the inside. Over twenty years of shift patterns, moving and handling, and end-of-life care. Not a framework borrowed from a consultancy that’s never worked with social care delivery.

Data-led, not assumption-led. We measure before we recommend. Every Risk Audit and every M.E.T.A. Programme® gives you an evidence-based picture of where the risk sits. So your decisions and actions are based on fact, not feelings.

Built around CQC Quality Statements. We structure workforce health data around what CQC inspects. So the work you do to look after your staff also builds your evidence for inspection.

Honest about where we are. We’re growing. We’re building a technology platform to support the sector at scale. We’ll always tell you plainly what’s available today and what’s still on the roadmap. So you know exactly what you’re investing in.

Leaders contact me because they know they’re not doing enough, and they want to do more. They’re not seeing any real impact on their staff’s health, or on their organisation.

The physical and mental health problems I see stem mainly from work-related stress. That ties back to culture.

But saying there’s a problem with culture can sound like it’s a bad place to work. Often it isn’t. It’s the operational processes, the frameworks care providers are working within, that are causing the problem. And often those pressures aren’t shared equally across a team.

When a care organisation grows, it needs processes that sustain a healthy, productive workforce, not just more people to absorb the strain.
